Our Piper

0comments

When you were just a tiny girl, you didn't dress in Momma's pearls.
Instead you rode a steed on high
And were the apple of Daddy's eye!

With your Mom you would read your books,
From the balcony or the overlook!
Perhaps you laughed the days away
Just being at the ranch was your form of play!

Instead of dolls, tea parties or trips to the zoo,
You created your own stories as over the plains you flew.
With horses you became the best of friends
The land was your playground,
And your laughter carried on the wind!

From swimming holes to rodeos & everything in between,
You've grown up in a world many will never see.
And the old adage is true; "We turned around & you ARE grown";
Now embarking on another journey, but not too far from home!
So it is with these heartfelt words that I wish you all the best
You are loved and appreciated and you're one of the best!

Congratulations on your graduation, Piper! With love from your Lazy L&B Family

Wrangler Susie

When I was just a little girl
Dressed up in Mama's pearls
All I ever wanted was
To be a Buffalo Girl

To ride like Annie Oakley
Shoot straight like Calamity Jane
With one Paint horse and a yellow dog
We'd ride across the plains

We'd come down from the mountains
Into town just once a year
And all the folks would stand around
And look at  me in fear

I'd walk into the Long Branch
And take a shot of whiskey
After 12 or 13, I started feeling kinda friskey

I'd grab myself a cowboy
And spin a yarn or two
Then saddle up away I'd ride
Off in to the blue

A lot of folks would stand around
And say "who was that floozie"

Well, shut your mouth and bite your tongue
They call her "Wrangler Susie"

Susie was a guest at Lazy L&B dude ranch in WY, and this was the poem that she wrote for our "Friday night cookout"!
