Keeping Traditions Alive

0comments
We find that, so many times, people "assume" you go to a Dude Ranch, spend a few days riding horses and go home, only ocassionally thinking about what they did. Our experience over the last 20 years shows guests what we are already blessed to know.
A Dude Ranch vacation is something that gets in your blood and makes you want to come back year after year. For some, it is a life-changing experience.

Folks arrive here on Sunday as strangers, but by Saturday morning, strong frienships have formed, plans to meet back here next year are already in the works and (our favorite)...kids don't want to go to Disney World!!!! They want to come back here. They are curious about us and ask questions like "how can I get a job here" or "I would love to be a Wrangler"! What a far cry from the modern, electronic world we live in. After one day they forget about TV's, IPads, Internet & all the other things that draw them into that world. Instead they are up and out the door at 7AM to help saddle their horses, they eat hardy breakfasts with their families, they learn, they soak up nature, they ride, they ask a "gazillion" question, THEY keep US entertained,... and they too make lifelong friends. They reconnect with the most fundamental elements we grew up with. Strong family ties & nature!
We are proud of be a part of the Dude Ranchers Association and to continue offering this special vacation of a lifetime. We support our young people and encourage them to follow in our footsteps to keep this way of life strong and growing. What better way than to make sure that the future generations are well educated!
We hope you will help us, too. because either way (or, if you're lucky) BOTH ways, this is a WIN- WIN for all of us...

Is It REALLY Almost Over?

0comments
Cooler temperatures over the last couple of weeks have made me stop and ask myself just that question! My, where did the summer go? The mornings are crisp, with frost in the meadow. More than a few of the guests have asked about extra blankets and checking out their room heaters! Today we were blessed with some light rain in the morning but now the sun is coming out and I look forward to a beautiful afternoon. It is nice to hear the few brave souls who dared the showers this morning to ride come back and say "IT WAS GORGEOUS". That's the thing about really loving to ride, you enjoy it rain or shine!
With only a few more days left in our season it will be sad to walk away from our favorite horse (mine being "Carlos") , but they have certainly earned the long winter break that lies ahead.
Again we are so grateful for the wonderful guests that shared time with us this summer and hope our paths cross again. But...just because our season is winding down that does not mean we will be "slackin' " in our jobs.....we are looking forward to our last week of guests and "going out w/a bang" !!
